Recently I started up a new hobby, which is writing Java programs. This Java program that I’m now reviewing, RestoreBack, is my second one.
RestoreBack is a disk backup utility written in Java programming language that lets you create a backup of the files and folders on your disk painlessly. Since there are more than one way of creating a disk backup, I have to first explain the basic way of creating a backup of your files and folders. For those of you who have already used DiskAid, I must say that it’s a good program. However, since DiskAid is only available for Mac OS X, not Windows, you can’t use it to backup files and folders on your PC.
RestoreBack lets you archive all your selected files and folders to a single.zip archive. The program also allows you to update your archive when the files or folders that you backed up previously (using this program) undergo any change on your disk.
Creating and restoring a Backup Using RestoreBack
Creating a Backup.
Before you go ahead and use RestoreBack, make sure that you have at least one empty directory on your PC. I want you to run RestoreBack in your empty directory.
First off, go to the folder in which you want to start the backup. For example, if you want to backup the Music folder on your PC, you would go to the My Documents folder on your PC. Then, right click on the folder in which you want to start the backup and click New.

In this window, you must select the type of backup that you want to create. A list of all the available backup options is given.
