first of all, the graphics in robokill are absolutely stunning. the levels are rendered in a polished look that i really had to fight against to even recognize the existence of the game as being a game. the idea is that the player is in full space-distortion mode, so things in front of you move around with the wall but they don’t get close enough to block it, and everything behind you zooms towards the screen. it creates a seamless experience that almost feels like you’re really controlling a small space ship. the music is nothing special, but fits the game perfectly; futuristic, eerie, and slightly sinister. the voice acting is awesome as well, with a mixture of game-translated text, rendered voices, and robot voice-overs. there’s not a lot of dialogue to chew on, but it was enough to provide a few fun messages between the robots, even some third-person text messages to other players. the presentation is a lot better than i expected; while the music and graphics aren’t especially original, they’re all really well done, and would be great in their own right.

the gameplay mechanics are pretty simple, as is par for the course in this kind of game. you start with a fairly weak robot, and can either buy upgrades or find them through discovery, but you’ll generally pick up plenty of good upgrades early on in the game. you use the mouse to aim and fire, and use the [rmb] keys to strafe. you pick up ammo and health as you destroy enemies and find the occasional auto-health station. the overall experience is pretty streamlined, with very few frustrations on the way, making it a fairly enjoyable experience. but to be honest, it would be just as enjoyable in some other game genres, like a modern first-person perspective shooter. robokill is good, but it’s not amazing. it’s a fairly polished game that just happens to be a space-loot shooter.

The University of California Board of Regents is the latest entity to take a stand against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

By a 4-2 vote, the board called on the university to rescind a contract with ICE and threatened to cut off funding to any school that cooperates with the agency.

ICE said it is cooperating with and coordinating with university officials on existing contracts. ICE would not confirm any future contracts but said it has not asked universities not to cooperate with its work.

The most recent statement was directed at UC Riverside, which has been under increasing pressure to cooperate with ICE.

Riverside County officials have not taken a stand against the agency, which has its headquarters in the county, and on Tuesday supported efforts by President Donald Trump to deport thousands of illegal immigrants.

On Wednesday, the university released a statement saying it was committed to notifying the community before police arrest anyone in the presence of a university representative.
