looking back, that didnt last long. after decades, activision-blizzard decided to pull battlenet client out of circulation. i was absolutely giddy with joy when i found out the reason. i remembered that activision-blizzard had always had the gall to piss me off and keep increasing the prices of the game, and when they eventually pulled out battlenet, they prevented me from bootlegging the game and thereby keeping my initial investment. of course, its a fact that i never bootlegg this game anyway, and the move robbed me of the right to play the game more than 15 years ago. and if i wanted to sell on the actual game ofc, im sure ill be able to do it.
i couldnt wait for that day to come. but sadly, there came a point where i realized that it might never arrive. the issue is that the client will never be able to support wc3 on all the different platforms that it was released on. and so battlenet platform is being crippled on its own, limiting its capability to play wc3. and since blizzard has moved away from providing a downloadable client from the start, there isnt going to be any way for me to use the game on non-windows platforms either. its not something i want to do with my wc3 collection. maybe ill have to leave the game to the less fortunate like me.
its a sad day for a gamer like me. i only wish there had been a way for me to at least play the game again, which is now permanently inaccessible to me. but i have hope for those playing the game in other regions. hopefully, blizzard will release a client which can play the game across all platforms. at the very least, if blizzard gives an explicit guarantee that the clients will be compatible on all platforms, i would instantly buy it if i really cant wait to play the game again.
