Time Machine deleted a system file

I’m using Time Machine on Mavericks to backup my system. Last week I did a backup and deleted a file. Now I need to make a recovery so that I can upload my backup. The file I deleted is an icon for my MacBook Pro’s optical drive (using a Pen drive), but it’s called Status. It’s owned by root, and I’m the only user.
I can see it in the Recovery Partition (System/Applications/Utilities) but the Recovery Partition can’t read it.
I tried to copy the file to a directory in a NTFS partition, but this also fails to copy.
What do I do?

A:

There was a file named Status in /var/db, and all it contained was a 32-character string.
I thought that it would be a useful clue, so I found the string and searched for it on the Internet. This was a clue to “someone” having opened that file before, so I searched for that and found the actual file.
I was right; some other user had opened it.
I tried to copy the file to a NTFS partition, but this also fails to copy.
Either the NTFS partition is corrupt, or more likely, the other user opened the file, and Time Machine moved it to /var/db.

I like this game, it’s very very beautiful & addictive too. It’s also very much like a mix of an RPG and (MOBA) when you go to fighting a lot with other players. I also like the method they used to make the graphics quality high. The game is challenging but easy to pick up and play. It’s also a fun experience to be playing with other people. Overall, I recommend this game for all RPG lovers out there.
