if you are an aspiring animator who’s been wanting to try something a bit more professional and hence couldn’t afford toon boom studios , i would suggest that you check out toon boom harmony . harmony is an industry standard animation program, and is a member of the toon boom warriors initiative. however, it is not limited to only showing off your animation skills, as it is a powerhouse used in many animation studios and it supports many animation tools to give you a preview of the animation process. harmony is free, but doesn’t offer as many tools as some of the paid programs. however, i would say that as long as you are willing to use the software for free, you will see many of the features that the paid programs come with.

there is probably nothing better than getting started right off the bat with something as cheap and fast as tutoboom harmony and all the great stuff they have to offer it. in my case, i got started with the free version of their software, which only has 8 frames of animation, but for what you get, it is great! if you want it to be more like a key, theres the toon boom studio which is even more popular than the toonboomharmony, which i think you need to download the full version for. well, the first part of all of these software for beginners is that they are free, which should be the most important thing you think about before buying them, as people are always willing to pay for good software.

toon boom studio is the superior product over toonboomharmony in my opinion, and the reason for this is that you can get the actual source code, which is not available for free download, and it is more than enough for you to have the most control over the animation process. the toon boom studio is actually a whole suite of different software. the basic software is called “toon boom studio editor” and gives you the 2d tools you need to draw in the 2d world of animation, including the well-known “pen” tool, the “cel” tool for drawing out individual frames, the 2d timeline, and the “working area”. the other 3d software is called “toon boom studio 3d” which is mainly used for 3d modelling, and toon boom studio 3d apprentice lets you use the 3d program with no copyright issues. toonboomstudio designer, which is a bit of an outdated software and nothing special. but it is only included for comparison with the other programs.

toon boom studio is a 2d animation software, and although it doesnt have as many programs to offer, harmony is still the best 2d software on the market. we’re giving you a demo of harmony now, and to celebrate its release we’re giving away a free copy.
